Emily Ratajkowski wrote an entire book about this dear body. While it has partly allowed her to achieve the success we know today; in reality, it serves her as much as it serves her in her career and in her life. Just yesterday, it caused her more harm than it did her good. In fact, this Wednesday, August 21, 2024, the one we nickname Emrata revealed that she has been slut-shamed – once again.
Emily Ratajkowski invited to dress up from a passerby
In a video publication made on Tiktok, the model revealed by the clip “Blurred lines” he films himself in front of the camera as he calmly walks through the streets of New York. So far, nothing too shocking. But this apparent calm changes a few seconds later, when we hear a passerby shout at him: “Hey girl, put on a shirt” – understand, “Hey girl, go put on a shirt.” Evidently the young woman’s clothing seems to displease her.
But Emrata doesn’t care: she is used to receiving these kinds of comments, like many of her female counterparts. Unsolicited comments about her body and/or her clothing, made by strangers who grant themselves the right to comment on an appearance that is sometimes too naked, sometimes too dressed for their taste, even though they have no right to do so.
A “very modest” response. from Emrata
Instead of responding head on, the 33-year-old model decides to continue on her way in silence, with pride and indifference. She gives her response publicly with this Tiktok, which she accompanies with the following message: “notoriously immodest, notoriously inattentive” : “famous for not being secretive”we could summarize. An answer that mixes distinction and provocation, denounce the shame of the whores that women endure on a daily basis and encourages them to do so make fun of sexist comments and social injunctions inherited from the patriarchy.
FYI, the description of her video echoes the “very modest, very conscious” trend launched in early August by content creator Jools Lebron. The music that illustrates Tiktok is not chosen by chance, either: it is the artist’s title “365”. Charli XCX, considered the leading figure of the “Brat girl” trend.. We can therefore deduce that Emily Ratajkowski identifies herself more as a “Brat girl” than as a “modest” woman, even if we cannot help but see something “very modest” in her response. In fact, the way she addresses her detractor is full of reserve, wisdom and elegance. She would have had the right to respond promptly, to play the card of public scandal, to immediately nail him with aggression and vehemence – with equal elegance.
Yet another proof that a woman’s power can be expressed in different ways: from the most discreet (like “modest” women) to the most transgressive (like Brat girls). The important thing is that she is proud and in agreement with her way of doing things.
