How to be dignified? We’re talking about a new viral trend

Just when we had time to get used to the Brat aesthetic that went viral this summer, it was replaced by a new trend that spread all over the internet in a few days. Now being brave and smart is out of fashion, we are switching to the “light” side again by saying too serious, too careful. What are we talking about? Let’s talk!

A video of a girl named Jules LeBron recently went viral on TikTok, sharing her daily routine before work. She recommends staying “very modest and very careful”: not wearing too much makeup, not wearing the brightest and loudest items in your wardrobe, standing out as little as possible and not drawing unnecessary attention to yourself. The phrase “very modest, very careful” has gone so viral that it has reached even the most high-profile celebrities. Thus, Penn Badgley, Jennifer Lopez, the cast of “Emily in Paris” and many more have joined the trend.

Modesty and restraint in everything is the main motto of the adherents of the sober aesthetic. This is of course the exact opposite of the Brat trend, which encourages us not to be shy and to stand out as much as possible. Many have already compared this core to the quiet luxury that was popular in past seasons, but unlike quiet luxury, the restraint trend is more applicable to the everyday life of most people.
