Representatives from Katy Perry’s record label said they had permission to shoot the Lifetimes video. They were given verbal permission.
“We received assurances that all necessary permits were obtained to shoot the video. We’re only just now learning that one of them is in limbo,” a Capitol Records representative told Variety, “despite the verbal authorization given to us to proceed.”
The Perry side reported that it made an official statement to the relevant authorities on July 22. On July 26, the crew received verbal approval to begin filming the next day. The crew followed all the prescribed rules, respecting nature and local laws during the work.
Let us remind you that the local Ministry of Environment stated that the film crew, which included Katy Perry, shot the video in a protected area in the Balearic Islands without the necessary permits. An investigation has been launched regarding this fact.
The islands of S’Espalmador and Ses Illetes, where the video was shot, are part of the Salinas de Santa Pola Nature Reserve. Illes Balears Travel writes that the S’Espalmador dunes are ecologically very valuable and are considered the best preserved area in the Balearic Islands in Spain.
