An interesting case occurred in the United States. There, a 66-year-old woman paid the price for her criminal love of chicken wings. Vera Liddell was sentenced to nine years in prison for stealing this food, ABC 7 Chicago reported.
Woman stole $1.5 million (almost 135 million rubles) worth of meat over 19 months. Ordered wings for local school students, but the children never saw them. Crimes committed between 2020 and 2022
At the time, Liddell was working as a food services manager in one of the states. He used his position to create a fraud scheme. He has fully admitted his guilt.
The widespread scam reportedly began at the height of the pandemic when students switched to remote learning. Even though children were learning remotely, the school district continued to provide meals for students that their families could pick up.
It was not reported how much Vera earned from the scams and what she did with the stolen items.
