Towards a new success for Britney Spears? The famous American singer has just announced a film about her life story. A biopic officially in preparation, as she announced on her X account on August 1, 2024: “I am happy to share with my fans that I am working on a secret project with Marc Platt. He has always made my favorite movies… stay tuned.”
“Auction” to win the rights
Universal Pictures was awarded the rights to the film, after “a very competitive auction”. It will be based on the 42-year-old pop star’s memoirs, and in particular her 2023 book, The Woman In Me.
Jon M. Chu will direct the film Wicked and Marc Platt will produce. No casting has been revealed yet.
The film promises to be comprehensive, especially since the singer’s first memoir “Toxic”, published on October 24, 2023, covers her entire life: from his rise to fame to his fall when he was placed under guardianship. There will also be a look at her past relationships and more.
Full of emotions
There is already an audio edition of the book The Woman in Me, narrated by Michelle Williams, while Britney Spears has recorded an introduction to it.
In a statement, the singer stressed: “This book is the fruit of a labor of love and all the emotions that come with it. Reliving it all again was exciting, heartbreaking and moving, It’s the least we can say. For these reasons I will only read a small part of my audiobook. »
