Two films to experience a journey full of adventures
There’s nothing like being a kid again, enjoying a good movie under a blanket or in front of a fan (your choice). The imaginary landscapes of the kingdom of Terabithia continue to make me dream even though I’m well beyond the age of the audience it’s aimed at.
The Secret of Terabithiaavailable on Prime Video and OCS, tells the story of Jess, a boy of about twelve who becomes friends with Leslie, his neighbor. Both rejected at school, they lead a rather lonely life. Until they find each other and imagine together a world that makes them dream.
It is no wonder that the mountains of the kingdom of Terabithia are sublime… they were created from scratch! This is not the case with the landscapes depicted in The Hobbit. To (re)discover Bilbo’s journey with the Dwarves and Gandalf in Middle Earth, just a few clicks on Netflix and Amazon. New Zealand landscapes with music by Howard Shore… We’re already getting chills!
Four films for a regenerating journey
In the category “magnificent landscapes”, Wild has nothing to be ashamed of. This film stars Academy Award-winning actress Reese Witherspoon. It tells the true story of Cheryl Strayed, a woman who is not a hiker, but who hiked 1,700 km of the Pacific Crest Trail, which stretches from Washington state to California. In addition to the American paintings, we love the story of this woman taking time to find herself. Very powerful!
Wild has – in a certain sense – its French counterpart, released in 2020: Antoinette in the Cevennesavailable on Mycanal. Antoinette Lapouge, played by a brilliant Laure Calamy, awarded with a César for this role, decides to take the Stevenson Trail in the Cévennes when she discovers that her lover is going there with his wife and children (well, it’s the worst idea ever, but that’s not the most important thing). Without preparation, she finds herself walking with a donkey to respect the traditions of this hike. Along the way she will meet amazing people and will learn to focus again on what makes her feel good, making us laugh along with her donkey! And it’s not because we don’t have California in France that we can’t admire the landscapes!
It’s all a bit lacking in music, isn’t it? If you’re tired of seeing your friends’ photos from Mykonos, Athens and Crete on Insta, you can always look at them Oh my God! Sour Prime Video to console you. A tomato, feta, and olive salad, and we promise, we believe it! Well, the only risk is having Abba songs stuck in your head for five days, but deep down we know we love them.
After Greece… head to India! Clearly, what a busy summer! Let’s go on an adventure with Wes Anderson and his film On board the Darjeeling Limited (available on Disney+). Three brothers try to reconnect a year after their father’s death during a train journey through India. The film’s sharp humor, directorial settings, and journey through this country immediately take us along.
A film for a crazy journey
What if instead of traveling the streets we wandered through space-time? If you too are dreading your cousin’s wedding approaching in August, now is the time to watch it Palm Springs on Prime Video. Super acting duo Andy Samberg and Cristin Milloti find themselves stuck in a wedding they no longer want to be in. For a totally WTF chill time, this is the perfect movie!
A film to travel to another planet
Who said a journey must necessarily take place on Earth? Twelve years later, Pandora’s landscapes are even more impressive than ever. In Avataravailable on Disney+, we start with Jack Sully, a former soldier who became a paraplegic on the planet Pandora, just four light years from our solar system.
