Elle writes that the prosecutor’s office dropped the investigation against Frederic Beigbeder due to “lack of serious or supporting evidence.” The writer was accused of rape.

The crime was not deemed “serious enough.” The prosecutor’s office said in a press release that “all witnesses who could shed light on the facts” were heard as part of the preliminary investigation. However, according to the results, “it was not possible to prove that the alleged rape acts were committed.”

In 2023, the author of the novels “99 Franks” and “Love Lasts Three Years” was accused of rape. The woman claimed that she had sexual intercourse with the author first with mutual consent and then without any other consent.

Frederick Beigbeder denied the accusation. He was detained in December, but the author was soon released from the police station.
