During the initial brainstorming process of 3rd part, My name is Ryan Reynolds. he had an interesting idea that he thought he’d play with.
He wanted to sneak in Deadpool and Wolverine in an “intentionally bad fake movie titled Alpha Cop.” Reynolds shared details of this idea in an interview with The hot ones with Hugh Jackman.
Alpha Cop would have acted as a smokescreen for Deadpool and Wolverine and would follow two policemen who share the same brain.
His tagline would have been: “Alpha Cop. Two cops. One brain. All balls.” Early in the film, it would have been revealed as a gag before reprising Deadpool and Wolverine in full.
Reynolds said: “Ten people in America would go to see this Alpha on opening weekend. If you can get to the last minute, and [the reveal] gets blown up, it would be heartbreaking,”
It’s obvious why they didn’t go that route. It’s a fun idea, but one that ultimately wouldn’t have worked for a variety of reasons.
