Writer George R. R. Martin categorically cannot stand it when writers change his stories. But there are exceptions. An episode in the second season of “House of the Dragon” made him very happy.
Martin noted on his blog a scene in which a mercenary named Cheese kicks a dog that gets in his way, which the author noted was not included in the book “A Dance with Dragons” from which the script was written.
“I didn’t like Cheese, but I absolutely hated him when he kicked the dog. And when he sat at his feet and looked up… it almost broke my heart. I wish I could have written this episode myself, but the writers did everything for me,” Martin wrote.

But actor Mark Stobbart got it from the audience. They made a fuss about the incident and defended the animal. The actor later posted a photo with the furry extras, writing that he was perfectly fine and that what happened on screen was created by the magic of cinema.
