“I pass in the middle €200 and €250 of expenses per month (not counting restaurants and trips and depending on whether I need to stock up on laundry detergent, olive oil, etc.). Fruits and vegetables (F&V) form the basis of my diet. I eat eggs often because they are very easy to cook and can be used in many recipes. I can’t miss yogurts in my shopping: plain and flavored for the evening and/or in the morning for breakfast.
The stores where Romane shops
Every week the company delivers me a basket of fruit and vegetables (4-5 kg). Good Good to which I add the shopping, depending on what I intend to cook and what I lack in the pantry. There I can buy eggs, mustard, coconut milk, red lentils etc… The Bene Bono principle: sell products that do not conform to large-scale retail standards (size, shape).
Otherwise, to complete, I go once a week to Lidl (often the day after receiving the basket) and sometimes to Monoprix (but such a short trip for a quick meal). For shopping, I will vary between “high-end” brands and distribution brands because the composition is often very good.
Inflation and food choices
With inflation I consume less meat, that’s for sure, but otherwise it doesn’t affect me that much, because I don’t mind spending money on food. I eat white meat (chicken) at most twice a week and fish once. I prefer Label Rouge or PGI chicken/fish, so obviously it’s more expensive. Very often I buy chicken in the anti-waste section with short DLC and freeze it directly.
Furthermore, for years I anticipate my meals, so I only buy what is necessary in the composition of my recipes of the week (which revolve around the basket of vegetables that I collect).

And then sometimes I batch cook. And I eat the same meal over and over again, it doesn’t bother me. I cook for myself, because I live alone. I never get food delivered unless I’m with friends, but that’s pretty rare, I’d say once a month and it’s usually pizza or burgers.

Consuming local: your priority
The fruit and vegetables I consume are organic and French but I mainly choose Bene Bono because they are products that large retailers do not accept because they are out of caliber. This still allows farmers to be paid and that the food and vegetables do not end up in the garbage. Premises are a priority for mebecause we need to make the French economy work, pay farmers better to allow them to live, relaunch local sectors and stop importing products that we already produce. I try to favor French sources even if it is sometimes complicated with a short list of ingredients and no additives. I prefer non-organic French to an organic exported product (if we talk about ecological footprint). For pleasure foods that come from far away, I can buy them occasionally (avocado, salmon, passion fruit).

His food breaks
My latest indulgence: a 250g burrata for me, it was delicious, and for the rest a pizza last weekend. My favorite dish: gnocchi sautéed in a pan!
