Everyone has their own quirk. A new study, carried out by the American organization Talker Research on 2,000 adults, half of them in couples, highlights the aphrodisiac effects of cleanliness (yes, you read that right). More specifically, 69% of respondents say that just seeing their partner clean turns them on. Generation Z and millennials even prefer to receive the “gift” of a clean house (17%) rather than an expensive gift (11%).
Long-term positive effects
And that’s not all: the relationship with the family unit is even a secret of longevity for the couple, according to the results of the study. One in three people surveyed who have similar grooming habits to their partner have been in a relationship for at least five years.
Additionally, 68% of respondents say a dirty home is a reason for an immediate breakup. 43% say they would leave their partner’s home if it didn’t smell fresh, and more than a third would end a relationship if their partner’s home wasn’t clean.
Unusually, the study also asked female respondents whether they preferred the smell of a clean house or the smell of fresh flowers… twice as many of them chose the former.
Their partners, however, must not have had the information, since they continue to carry out most of the tasks, as the Center for Demographic Studies in Barcelona demonstrated last week.
