Russell Crowe gave a new interview and explained why he turned down the role of Aragorn in The Lord of the Rings.

In a conversation with GQ journalists, the Gladiator star admitted that he had been in talks with the showrunners of the project but still could not join the cast.
“It seemed to me that the decision was made by the studio, not the director. I spoke to Peter Jackson on the phone, but he didn’t say all the things directors usually say when they want to cast actors for a project. I got the impression that he already had someone else in mind and if I agreed, I would only be interfering,” said the actor.
He believes that the director did not cast him in this role because of his background. “We come from the same place. We’re both from New Zealand. There were some shades of meaning in his speech that others might not notice. I realized he had his own plan, even if he didn’t say it out loud. So I just left it at that,” Crowe explained.
By the way, Internet users previously did not recognize Russell Crowe in new photos on social networks. What does the actor look like now? Look here.
