Cheese is one of my great culinary passions. But when raclette season ends, I sometimes have trouble satisfying it if I want to avoid resorting to traditional pizza.
Luckily someone in this world invented grilled cheese. Even more delicious than the local croque-monsieur, the grilled cheese comes from the United States and is made up of two slices of toasted bread browned in a pan with, inside, Very cheese (and incidentally other ingredients).
If you're a fan of Madmoizelle's recipes, you may have noticed ours light tropism for Italian cuisine. So it won't surprise you that we concocted a grilled cheese recipe for you using pesto, mozzarella and fresh tomatoes.
The ingredients for the Italian grilled cheese (for two people)
- 4 slices of bread for sandwiches
- 2 tablespoons of pesto
- 1 nice ball of mozzarella (buffalo mozzarella if possible)
- 2 firm-fleshed cherry tomatoes (Roma type, for example)
- 1 handful of rocket
- 1 drizzle of olive oil
Italian grilled cheese recipe
- Spread the pesto on one side of the four slices of bread
- Cut the cherry tomatoes into thin slices, do the same with the mozzarella
- Arrange the tomato and mozzarella on a slice of bread, then add the rocket leaves. Close with a second slice of bread to form a sandwich. Repeat the operation with the two remaining slices of bread.
- In a hot pan, pour a drizzle of olive oil then place the grilled cheese over medium heat for about 3 minutes. Turn them over when the slice of bread is golden.
- Remove from the heat when the mozzarella has melted and serve immediately. Enjoy your meal !
