2025: the wave of failures that shakes French private enthusiasts

While the Vautrin plan aims to relaunch the birth rate in France, the enormous closure of private and associative kindergartens will be likely to undermine the foundations. In 2025, the early childhood sector collapsed in bankruptcy, due to lack of adequate financial support.

2025: the worst evaluation never recorded for private and associative kindergartens

The figures speak for themselves: 2025 could mark a fatal turning point for the early childhood sector. In just seven months, 193 collective procedures for nurseries and micro-crèchi (Ape 8891a code) were recorded, against 154 for the entire year 2024. For a simple projection, this figure could increase to 333 by December, or a multiplication for six in three years.

These enormous failures mainly concern private and associative structures, often more fragile than public enthusiasts in the face of accusations, regulatory obligations and lack of qualified personnel. For parents, these are eliminated places, delayed family projects and sometimes too the obligation to renounce a recovery of the activity.

An unused public help, an evident emergency

Ironically of the situation: The state has means to support these factories … But most of the tail securities assigned to the creation of nursery school squares remains unused. In 2023 313 million euros were not spent; In 2024, 222 million. For 2025, the trend seems identical.

Faced with hemorrhage, the early childhood sector committee – composed of representatives of the sector – has adopted a resolution that requires the reallocation of 200 million unused euros, in a press release issued on July 31, 2025.

In order to avoid great closures, supporting existing asipographic through a revaluation of 2 % of the single service (PSU) and widening the micro-crèche aid criteria, still too restrictive.

The absence of guard solutions slows down the birth rate

This hemorrhage of welcome places comes at the worst moment. Because in parallel, the government has a clear political desire to revive birth, especially through the Vautrin plan. This offers several levers: better recognition of social infertility, better compensated leave, promises to improve the welcome of young children.

But on the field, these announcements contradict reality: Families without childhood assistance, burnout or redevelopment professionalsand structures forced to close due to lack of means. Far from being a simple detail, effective access to a way of childhood assistance remains the point of no return for many families in their decision to have a child or not.

Between political ambitions and land crisis

On the one hand, a government that finally recognizes it The birth rate also depends on concrete social conditions. On the other, a silent but enormous disintegration of the reception fabric of early childhood. In the absence of quick measures, the efforts of the Vautrin plan can remain a dead letter, taken in the abyss between political promises and collapse of the structures.

For parents, this situation generates a feeling of insecurity. For professionals, a generalized tired. And for children, a disturbing invisibility of their essential needs. Returning confidence in families will necessarily pass through an emergency action to save existing enthusiasts before it is too late.
