Peter Jackson will produce the Lord of the Rings prequel. This time, the story of Gollum, the creature who is the slave of the One Ring, will be told on cinema screens.
The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum is scheduled to premiere in 2026. Meanwhile, the director and leading actor will be Andy Serkis, who played Gollum in the cult trilogy adapted from The Lord of the Rings.

The rest of the cast remains a mystery for now. Viggo Mortensen, who plays the role of Aragorn, talked about returning to the world of Middle Earth.
“I learned a lot playing this character. I loved this. However, I will accept the offer if I am suitable for the position due to my age and other data. It would be foolish to do otherwise,” he shared with Variety.
Interestingly, Mortensen is filmed in his movie The Dead Can’t Hurt with the same sword with which he plays Aragorn in The Lord of the Rings. He kept it as a souvenir and used it in the new movie with Peter Jackson’s permission.
