In November 2023, volunteers in Nizhny Novgorod found a dog named Krugets. The baby suffered from extreme obesity – his weight was over a hundred kilograms. The animal was recognized as the fattest dog in Russia at that time.
Volunteers have now begun to look for a new owner for Krugetsu, reports the “Mercy” shelter group on the VKontakte social network. They said the pet had lost weight up to 55.9 kilos and was ready to move from the shelter to the house, although he sometimes limped due to changes in his joints due to excess weight.

According to the volunteers, the dog’s treatment is now limited to special weight loss foods and taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Shelter representatives hope to find an owner for the dog, for whom Krugets will become a loyal friend. Volunteers noted that it would be difficult and hot for a large dog to live in an apartment, so anyone who wants to adopt the animal should live in a private house with a fenced area.
According to activists, Krugets “could become an excellent security guard” in the future. The truth is that he has a “loud and serious voice.” Volunteers speak of him as a loyal, gentle and obedient pet among those he knows.
Krugets is now over five years old. He has full vaccinations and treatment against parasites.
