Lesbians orgasm more often than heterosexual women, this study explains why

The “orgasm gap” between sexual partners is much smaller among lesbian women than among heterosexual couples, according to a new study that provides some possible explanations.

Orgasm, the Holy Grail of sexuality, the ultimate goal to truly experience pleasure. The French make love less and less, and yet the injunction to sexual performance it has never been stronger. Orgasm, the culmination of pleasure, can be expressed in different ways, but above all it is not certain that both partners will reach it during sexual intercourse.

What if we talked about the orgasmic gap? ? This theory suggests that heterosexual women have less pleasurable sexual experiences than heterosexual men. A study published in 2017 in the scientific journal Sexual Behavior Archives he concluded only that 65% of women always orgasm during sex compared to 95% of men.

A smaller orgasm gap among lesbians

The “orgasmic gap” between sexual partners it would be much less important among lesbians than among heterosexual couples, according to a new study published in Social Psychological and Personality Science. To reach this conclusion, the researchers compared the experiences of lesbian and heterosexual women with their most recent partners. They found that lesbian women were 20% more likely to report orgasms with recent partners, compared to the heterosexual group.

According to the researchers, these differences in pleasure may be partly due to sexual scenarios – that is, women expect different things during sex depending on the gender of their partner. Specifically, they reported higher clitoral stimulation and orgasm expectations when their partner was a woman rather than a man. They also reported that their female partners paid more attention to their clitoris than their male partners, making them more likely to have an orgasm.

The psychologists behind the study say the findings do not mean there is an “inherent” problem with heterosexual sex, but that foreplay, rather than sexual intercourse, should be practiced more often.
