The 2024 Cannes Film Festival unveils its Official Selection: 4 female directors, together with Gilles Lellouche and Francis Ford Coppola

The official list of films selected in competition at the Cannes Film Festival was revealed on Thursday 11 April. For the moment there are four female directors, among many big-name filmmakers.

This Thursday, April 13, the world of cinema vibrates to the rhythm of the Cannes festival. Few weeks before the start of the prestigious festival which will take place on the Croisette du from 14 to 25 May and which will open with a feature film by Quentin Dupieuxthe general delegate Thierry Fremaux and the new president of the festival Iris Knobloch announced the list of contenders for the coveted Palme d’Or.

Four directors in competition

Both came together at the UGC Normandie, located on the Champs-Elysées in Paris. Among these, the Belgian Agathe Riedinger and the Indian Payal Kapadia. They appear together with Francis Ford Coppola, David Cronenberg and Gilles Lellouche.
