Are you among the people who have already seized the opportunity of the repair bonus to have clothes and/or accessories repaired by a certified repairer, from October 2023? Questioned by AFP, Elsa Chassagnette, who manages the Reparations Fund for the government through the eco-organisation Refashion, estimates that in six months the French have already saved 2.3 million euros.
84% shoes repaired, 16% clothing changes
From 1050 partner stores (40% shoemaking, 60% retouching), approximately 250,000 repairs have already been carried out. Of which 84% were for shoes and 16% for modifications. The average help would be 8 euros (while it can vary from 6 to 25 euros), because these are generally minor jobs, Elsa Chassagnette reports to AFP.
This repair fund originates above all from brands, according to the “polluter pays” principle, because they pay an eco-contribution to Refashion. The latter hopes to surpass the threshold of 20 million clothes and shoes repaired by 2028.

Repair bonus: where can you benefit from it in a shoe repair or touch-up shop near you?
According to ADEME (Agency for the Environment and Energy Management), 16 million pieces were repaired in 2019. Let’s hope that repair becomes a key fashion trend. And if you don’t know where to turn near you to benefit from the repair bonus (knowing that the aid can be cumulated on the same piece), the certified repairers are gathered on bonusreparation.fr.
