Today’s doodle pays homage to Taos Amrouche, French singer, author and folklorist from Kabylia More accessible Berber culture and literature. It is also one of the first Algerian women to publish a novel.
This is Google’s presentation of Taous Amrouche. Born March 4, 1913 in Tunis (111 years ago) this French-speaking artist is a leading figure of Amazigh culture, which she helped to make more visible, especially with her songs in French.

His literary work has become a privileged place of transmission, drawing on oral tales and Kabyle songs. All of Taous Amrouche’s work also testifies to her experience as a woman. Her music has toured the world, for example to Dakar in Senegal in 1966. In the same year she also participated in the creation of the Berber Academy in Paris. Her work bears witness to a rich, millenary culture.
