At the end of January, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) suspended Kamila Valieva for four years (from December 25, 2021) for violating anti-doping rules. It has now become known that the skater could not prove that he did not deliberately violate the rules.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport published the reasoning part of the decision in the Kamila Valieva case. Ecdysterone was detected in figure skaters who tested positive for doping. The athlete stated to CAS that the banned substance entered his body through the dessert his grandfather prepared on the board where he crushed the drug. The court did not believe Kamila and therefore decided to disqualify her as an adult.
Let us remind you that the banned drug (trimetazidine) was found in the sample taken by Kamila Valieva in December 2021 on February 8, 2022.
