Have you ever come across a thriller that relies on a very original concept ? Imagine for example a film that has only one character locked in a box from start to finish. You launch it because the pitch is intriguing, the first minutes are beautiful but suddenly you have a doubt: ” How will it hold up for 1h30? ” It’s still, the suspense, the twists and turns no longer leave you a second to breathe.
They are called conceptual films, and I love them. For years I have followed them at the cinema, on TV and on platforms. It must be said that they are very rare. But the ones I found matter among the best films I’ve seen in my life (and good news: some are immediately available on the platforms.)
Buried: Emerging from an underground coffin
In BuriedPaolo wakes up inside a box in which he just lies. The subtlety is this the coffin is buried under a ton of earth. Paolo goes double your ingenuity go out thanks to the meager means at his disposal, including a half-charged phone.
Spanish cinema is particularly recognized for these memorable thrillers and in fact it is the director Rodrigo Cortés who directs the film. He is accompanied by Ryan Reynolds, the actor of Dead Pool who does it here a masterfully embodied performance. You’ll be amazed at what can happen in 90 minutes in a closed coffin.

Search – disappearance, investigate through the computer of the wanted teenager
Despite the poor title, Search – disappearance East an exceptional thriller. Special mention to his surprising final twist But possible to guessas long as it is attentive to details. From the point of view of form, you can bet you’ve never seen anything like it on TV or at the cinema. The experience is extremely immersive.
We’ll let you judge for yourself by exploring the film’s labyrinth. In the meantime, here’s the summary: Research is set when Margot, a 16-year-old teenager, disappears. Despite a brilliant CV, the inspector in charge of the case doesn’t have the slightest idea and the investigation doesn’t move forward. David, Margot’s father, decides to take matters into his own hands, starting where no one has looked yet: his daughter’s computer.. And the best part is that it doesn’t exist you don’t even have to wait since then the film is on Netflix!

The one guilty on Neftlix, shaking on the phone in the middle of a kidnapping
The one guilty is a Danish thriller released in 2018. The film was such a success with the public that the Americans made a remake of it with Jake Gyllenhaal. It’s true that he is a nice guy, but the usefulness of this version raises questions because it is good actor Gustav Möller’s virtuoso performance that helped make the original so compelling.
The film follows for 1h30 a police officer who receives a call of a woman being kidnapped. From his office, he only has his phone, his imagination and his intelligence to save her. This session ended with a specific scenario promises to make you live a rollercoaster of emotions, from suspense to fear and above all to surprise. Unless you have Jake Gyllenhaal as your sole criteria for choosing a movie, we highly recommend the original 2018 version.
Now you have enough to spend a weekend full of emotions!
