#MeToo: in an interview, Natalie Portman thanks women who have freed their voices to speak

Six years after the birth of #MeToo, the 42-year-old Hollywood star expressed her gratitude to people who have had the courage to speak out about the violence they have experienced or witnessed, particularly in the film industry.

Natalie Portman expressed gratitude “towards the people who dared to speak out, who raised their voices, who said: ‘I was a victim of such and such abuse’“ . Women, but also children

If Natalie Portman praised the fraternities, she also made it clear that #MeToo is a global protection movement against of the most vulnerable, especially children. He therefore welcomed this collective impulse to listen and protect “women, but also children”which marks a “very important turning point” on an industry and society-wide scale:

“It is very important to say clearly that it is not possible to behave like this and that women feel safe, especially when they work. Ihopes that the generation [suivante, N.D.L.R] will experience things differently”.

This Wednesday, January 24, Natalie Portman will appear May December alongside his on-screen partner, Julianne Moore. This drama from director Todd Haynes (Carol, Dark Waters) tells of the meeting between an actress and the mysterious woman that he will have to embody for his new role.
