The recognition of Facebook * and Instagram * as extremist organizations in the territory of the Russian Federation opened new platforms for the majority of users, and therefore led to a significant increase in the cost of advertising.

Thus, in March-April, placements in Telegram increased by 32.9%, calculated on SocialJet, and on VKontakte – by 92.5%. The number of public advertising launches on VKontakte for the specified period increased by 23% compared to February, and on Telegram channels by 78%. The study took into account ad posts across channels and communities, not counting targeted ads.
In Telegram, placements on the author’s blogger channels have become the most expensive – the average cost per thousand impressions reaches 3.8 thousand rubles. The cheapest ones were about 18+ content and “shock content”. Bloggers also had the most expensive placement on VKontakte: the average price was 570 rubles. The lowest were humor, cooking, psychology, hobbies – 40 rubles.
It was previously reported that 38% of Russians stopped using Instagram* in the first half of May. 35% said they lost nothing and spent too much personal time, 24% said they don’t use the social network because it’s against their policy, they don’t want to download too much on their smartphone – 22%, 7% VPN slows down other apps, 12% each of the above reasons supports.
