Game Of Thrones star who suffered brain haemorrhage and whose mother has been named in Britain’s New Year’s Honors list

British actress Emilia Clarke is best known for her role as Daenerys Targaryen in all eight seasons game of throneswas awarded an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) gong in the New Year Honors List.

Clarke will visit a British royal palace with her mother Jenny to accept the award after the couple set up a charity to support people with brain injuries.

The now 37-year-old actress suffered two brain bleeds in 2011 and 2013, when she was in her 20s. After her operation, she was shocked by the lack of aftercare options, which inspired her and her mother to set up the charity SameYou.

They are now believed to be the first mother-daughter combination to receive the same honorary award.

Clarke told BBC News: “I can tell both of us that the MBE is for a good cause and that’s why it’s bad. “That’s why it’s great.”

She explained the reasons for setting up the charity: “In the hospital you are told every day that you are going to die.” Every day you are watched like a hawk, especially in the brain department. You wake up every two hours. It’s this high-stakes scenario. And then, three weeks to a month later, you are released.”

“I was fine, but I was very scared to be at home suddenly and I was at home with a loving family. It is not [the same for] everyone, and the fear you have…

“When I had my second brain haemorrhage, I thought: I have to do something big. Given that I got through two of them with no consequences – I’m here for a reason, let me do something about it.

“Then we came up with the idea of ​​starting a charity.”
