Before marriage
When and where did you meet?
We met in high school and then we each went our own way. Five years after high school, Alexandre contacted me on Instagram to meet again.
How long did it take you to decide to get married?
Alexandre proposed to me after dating for a year and a half. I didn’t expect it…
Why did you choose this merge method?
We already had a civil union since May 2019, because I got pregnant. We wanted a simple party at the town hall.
Did you live together before getting married?
Yes, since January 2019.
How did you organize your celebration? How far in advance?
I started wedding preparations in March 2021 for a celebration on July 3, 2023. Our families helped us a lot with the organization.
Were you both equally involved in the preparations?
I would say 60 (me) / 40 (Alexandre). He helped me a lot in two important positions, outdoor decoration and catering.
Was the preparation a source of stress?
Yes, a lot, I no longer slept in the weeks leading up to the wedding.
What were the things you really didn’t want at your wedding?
I didn’t want a grand entrance for Patrick Sébastien, no caterpillar-style music or duck dancing… I didn’t want bling-bling decorations with rhinestones and sequins.
Which position seemed most important to you to organize? Which was less?
For me, a successful wedding is above all music, a good meal and unlimited drinks.
Was there a time when you wanted to go back?
No, not really, but at a certain point I thought I couldn’t organize everything for the scheduled date… I thought I would have to postpone.
Have you had to give up things in your organization to fit your budget?
It’s not really a budget issue, but rather a time issue, because I didn’t find an available DJ for July (even though the start of my search was in March).
How did you finance your union?
Our parents helped us by paying for some positions and the rest with our savings.
Wedding day
Were you stressed on the big day?
I woke up at 6 in the morning because I couldn’t sleep anymore… I was so stressed that I didn’t enjoy my wedding as much as I wanted.
Did everything go as you expected?
No, the organization of the day didn’t go as I imagined. We got married at 11 in the town hall, then we had lunch and dinner. It was a very long day to organize! Sometimes there was a bit of panic.
Do you regret investing so much/not enough in your union?
I regret not doing things better, not taking more time, and not making the most of the big day.
Did you regret your choice of guests? Would you have liked to invite others? Less ?
No, our list was perfect.
Can you name 3 moments that marked you during this day? For what reasons?
- When my father accompanied me to the town hall in front of all our guests
- When my parents and in-laws gave a speech
- When my husband and I found out we were getting ready. We didn’t sleep together the day before the wedding! Those were the most touching moments.
After the wedding, the debriefing
In which expense item do you not regret having it? Has it all gone out? For what ?
My dress and my husband’s, as well as the wedding rings. We really had fun and enjoy every day when we wear our wedding rings. As well as the external decoration, for my taste it was really very beautiful.
If you could go back in time, what would you change?
I would have hired a DJ.
Do you think marriage has strengthened your relationship?
I don’t think so, we are still the same and our relationship is exactly the same.
Are you still together now?
Yes of course.
What are your big future plans as a couple?
We want to beautify our home and maybe have a second child in a few years…
