It opened on Monday 27 November Lthe trial of thirteen Internet users, suspected of having cyber harassed the priestess of influencers, Magali Berdah. After four days of hearings, the first phase of this vast proceeding – involving a total of 28 defendants – culminated with the announcement of the requisitions on Tuesday 5 December.
The requested penalties range from five months’ suspended prison sentence to six months’ imprisonment. The magistrate also asked the court to force all defendants to take a citizenship course.
“Cyberbullying creeps into your life”
“Insults, threats, spreading rumors, incitement to suicide, publication of personal data: nothing was spared” in Magali Berdah, the deputy prosecutor, Sophie Touchais, argued before the criminal court.
Gold “Cyberbullying doesn’t stop on the Internet, it infiltrates your life and the lives of your loved ones” and “can lead to suicide”he added, underlining the psychological repercussions of this affair for the victim, who came to report to the bar that she had been “on the verge of being thrown out of the window”. Fifteen defendants have yet to stand trial for similar facts, during two subsequent trials, in mid-December and at the end of January.

Cyber harassment motivated by “anti-Semitism and sexism”
The heaviest sentence (one year in prison, of which six months on probation), was requested against a 32-year-old man, who had written to the victim: “It’s a shame Hitler didn’t do it (Yes) not caring about your grandparents”. For Magali Berdah’s lawyer, “Anti-Semitism and sexism acted as a stimulus to cyber harassment” in this file.
“Nothing can justify violence and certainly not the behavior of the person targeted,” he added, referring to the controversy surrounding Shauna Events, Magali Berdah’s company that connects influencers and brands.
Controversies highlighted by rapper Booba, who has been engaged in a crusade since 2022 against what he himself defines as “influencer”. The rapper, also indicted in this case for aggravated cyberstalking against the businesswoman, but not involved in the ongoing trial, states that he wants “expose scammers” to combat the scams of which Internet users are victims.
