EXCLUSIVE: President Joe Biden will hold his first fundraiser in Los Angeles next month, with an event on December 8 featuring a list of co-hosts including Steven Spielberg and Kate Capshaw, Michael Smith and James Costos, Shonda Rhimes, Rick Caruso and Peter Chernin Megan Chernin.
First Lady Jill Biden will also attend the event.
Invitations have been sent out for the event and tickets start at $1,000 per person. For those who write or fundraise, the ticket level increases to $500,000, a group listed as co-chairs. Those who contribute $25,000 or more will get access to a photo line. Proceeds go to the Biden Victory Fund, the Biden campaign’s joint fundraising committee, the Democratic National Committee and state parties.
Additional co-chairs and co-hosts include Martha Karsh, Wendy Schmidt, Morgan Cox and Derrall Hill, Russell and Karen Goldsmith, Jim and Ann Gianopoulos, Ted and Helen Boutrous, and Rob and Michelle Reiner. Additional hosts include Bob Tuttle and Maria Hummer Tuttle, John Emerson and Kimberley Marteau Emerson, Matthew Pritzker and Bui Simon.
It will also be the president’s first Hollywood-focused fundraiser since announcing his re-election bid. He missed a fundraiser in Los Angeles during the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, even though the first lady led fundraisers in June and September and Jeffrey Katzenberg served as chairman and campaign adviser.
Now that the strikes are over, the pace of fundraising in Los Angeles is expected to pick up.
Vice President Kamala Harris and running mate Doug Emhoff hosted an event Monday night that helped raise nearly $500,000 for the Biden Victory Fund. This event took place at the home of attorneys Cliff Gilbert-Lurie and Leslie Gilbert-Lurie.
Smith and Costos also hosted Biden’s first Hollywood fundraiser of the 2020 cycle at their home. Smith redesigned the Oval Office during Barack Obama’s presidency and Costos served as US ambassador to Spain.
