Former Talkback and Thames boss Leon Wilson has been appointed CEO of Banijay UK labels Shine TV and Zeppotron.
It comes after it was announced that current Shine director Jon Swain is stepping down at the end of the year. Wilson will report to Banijay UK chief executive Patrick Holland later this month, where he will take on the role of chief executive.
Shine is famous for the BBCs cook take note, Hurry up And Celebrity rush and a new Channel 4 Prison format Floggedwhile Zeppotron does the long-running shows 8 out of 10 cats, 8 out of 10 cats count down And will i lie to you.
There are no plans to directly replace Swain at Shine, but Wilson will work alongside creative director Tim Whitwell. cook Boss David Ambler and the whole team. At Zeppotron, managing directors Ruth Phillips and Peter Holmes will work with Wilson to boost the streamer market.
Wilson is known for running the Fremantle label Talkback and the merged Talkback Thames company between 2013 and 2019. His credits include: Too hot to touch for Netflix, Harry’s Heroes: The Complete English for ITV1 and Your face or mine for Comedy Central.
He recently founded All3Media-backed Great Scott Media, which now has an annual turnover of £14m and brings in commissions such as: B.
