Candle Media chooses Courtney Cappa and Kendall Ostrow as senior vice presidents for finance, development

Kevin Meyer and Tom Stags Candle Media have hired senior executives Courtney Capa and Kendall Ostrow, respectively, senior vice president of finance and accounting and senior vice president of business development and partnership.

Cappa will help Candle’s corporate financial efforts, including creating a corporate team to oversee financial planning and accounting, says Salil Mehta, Candle’s CFO.

Ostrow will focus on creating strategic partnerships and developing strategies to strengthen communities around Candle, its business units and brands, says Brent Weinstein, Candle’s Chief Development Officer.

The cap will be located in Los Angeles, Ostrow, New York.

Candle co-founders, CEO and former colleagues of Walt Disney Mayer and Stags called the duo “great executives with a wealth of experience, skills and relationships.”

Kappa most recently served as head and controller of the finance department for independent film and television studio Wiip, which led the company through several funding rounds from its inception to the successful sale to JTBC Studios. Prior to Wiip, he was Vice President of Finance / Accounting at Legendary and Europacorp, handling major acquisitions, including the sale of Legendary to Wanda. He began a media career in finance at Disney.

Ostrow had just been at UTA for seven years, building his digital strategy division and then serving as head of customer strategy for UTA IQ. Before that, he was at ID PR and was the head of New Media. Elena show.

Candle, which started last year with financial backing from the Blackstone Group, is adding executives as it continues to grow, eventually acquiring ATTN, a social media storytelling company for Generation Z and Millennials. This will be followed by offers on Hello Sunshine by Reese Witherspoon, cocomelon producer Moonbug Entertainment, Fauda Producer Faraway Productions and a minority stake in Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Westbrook.
