Peter Jackson reveals more Beatles music is “thinkable” following the release of the Fab Four’s “final” song

The Beatles released their last ever song this week with the help of filmmaker Peter Jackson, but now… lord of the rings The director hinted that there might be one or two more gems in the vault.

Now and thenA song written by John Lennon in 1978, two years before his assassination, has been transformed into a real Beatles song using Jackson’s technology, using the same cinematic magic as his epic Beatles documentary come back. What started as a demo that Lennon performed in his New York apartment has been stripped down and lovingly rebuilt, including the late George Harrison on guitar and Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr adding their special sauce for a real 2023 Beatles song .

The song was released to the enthusiasm of fans and the respect of critics, all with due respect that it could very well be the Fab Four’s very last performance, sixty years after they dominated the UK and US charts.

Except… there could be more, according to Jackson. He told it Sunday Times Newspaper he has pictures of come back, in which one of the Beatles works out a musical idea in the studio. He said:

“We can make a show out of it come back, separate John and George and then have Paul and Ringo add a chorus or harmonies. You might get a nice song, but I haven’t had any conversations with Paul about it yet.

“It’s fanboy stuff, but it’s totally possible.”

It was Jackson’s MAL audio software in his New Zealand studio that made it possible to separate Lennon’s voice from the piano and other background noise from the original demo and turn it into a real song. Jackson told the newspaper that he was inspired to help create the song when McCartney contacted him and told him he had received the demos from Lennon’s widow, Yoko Ono.

He said: “It felt so wrong to have a Beatles song for myself. It is not a classic in the sense of I am the Walrus or Penny Lane – it’s not that complicated. It’s simple, but it has a haunting quality. If someone asks why I like the Beatles, I just say that they make me happy. With the world in its current state, the Beatles have to reappear as if a flying saucer had landed and they got out and gave us their latest song to cheer us up.”

Or maybe one last song for now…
