Schitt’s Creek Graduate Emily Hampshire is apologizing for what she thought was a really bad idea: dressing up as Johnny Depp and Amber Heard with a friend for Halloween.
On Tuesday night, Hampshire dressed up as Depp with fake tattoos, a pulled-out mustache and slicked-back hair, holding a bottle of wine while her friend pretended to be a crying Heard.
She posted the photo on Instagram with the caption “Happy Halloween” surrounded by two pumpkins, which she has since deleted amid a barrage of criticism on social media. She replaced the post with her apology.

“I would like to comment on one of the most thoughtless, insensitive and ignorant things I have ever done,” Hampshire wrote. “For Halloween I stupidly thought it would be fun to dress up like Johnny Depp and Amber Heard. I am deeply sorry and ashamed that I brought something so terrible into the universe.”
She added: “Domestic violence is never funny. These are real problems with real people and I REALLY regret my actions. I will do better in the future. I am very sorry.”
A Virginia jury awarded Depp $15 million in damages against Heard for the editorial she wrote for the newspaper in 2018. Washington Post who claimed she was a victim of domestic violence. The civil jury later awarded Heard $2 million in damages in her counterclaim. Depp sought $50 million in damages, while Heard countersued for $100 million.
