When, if not on the eve of Halloween, could a group of tourists disappear again near the Dyatlov Pass? On October 26, five tourists went rafting on the river in the Sverdlovsk region. They were supposed to meet the transport organizer in Vizhay village on the 30th, but that did not happen.
On October 31, law enforcement and rescuers began searching for them. But a group of tourists got in touch.

The tourists apparently ignored rescuers’ warnings that thin, loose ice had formed on the Vizhay River. After just 15 kilometers the river froze completely, making the planned route impossible.
Three of the five tourists stayed at the scene to protect their belongings, while two went to help. They traveled 30 kilometers and reached the nearest village. Using a pay phone, the tourists reported what had happened and help was sent to them.
