When he was 49, his colon sagged and he was in a coma for two weeks. Later, doctors told the star’s relatives that his chance of survival was 2 percent. Luckily, he came out of his coma, but afterwards he was hospitalized for five months and used a colostomy bag for another nine months. In the same interview, Matthew shared that he began developing an alcohol addiction when filming for “Friends” began.
