Chases. Splinter wounds. Surrounded by terrorists who almost certainly face death.
The story of Dor Kapah, one of the thousands of Israeli citizens celebrating at the Nova music festival as Hamas gunmen flooded the Gaza border to carry out their brutal massacre, is truly cinematic.
Circumstances forced the normally calm masseur to quickly transform into a bona fide action hero as he drove an escape vehicle full of terrified civilians from a fleet of armed terrorists pursuing them on motorcycles.

Still waiting for news that his friends had been kidnapped by the Islamist attackers and taken to Gaza, Dor tells MailOnline in detail about his breathless, adrenaline-fueled escape from the festival.

Dor was about to flee the festival grounds, but then he got a call from a friend who told him not to go because “the streets were full of terrorists.”

“Everything was great until 06:00 … then we saw the trails of rockets shooting into the sky,” said Dor.
“The music stopped, everyone panicked.” People started running and lying on the ground… it was total chaos. We heard shots in the distance… and then we saw them coming – 400 meters away. 300 meters.’
Dor and his friends started packing their things and fixed their jeep to flee the festival grounds. But then he got a call from a friend on a nearby kibbutz, which put the group in a bind.
“Don’t leave the festival,” said the friend. “The streets are full of terrorists.”
It was then that Dor truly realized how dire his predicament was: damned if you stay, damned if you go, with armed men lurking everywhere.
But when terrorists with AK-47s approached him, Dor and his friends had no choice but to get into their jeep and drive away.
As he wound his way through the marquees to the exit, Dor stopped only to pick up more desperate festivalgoers, who stopped him and begged to save them.
“I see people running towards us from the exits and a group of thirty to forty terrorists… they are hunted like ducks,” Dor exclaimed.
After leaving the festival site, the group rushed to nearby woods where they came upon an abandoned, damaged IDF armored car. They saw an IDF assault rifle on the ground, picked it up and fled into the bushes.
For a few minutes, the revealers thought they were safe. They got out of the jeep and called their families.
But the moment of peace was interrupted by the roar of motorcycle engines, and seconds later a group of armed Hamas fighters flew across the fields towards them, followed by terrorists in trucks.

The group dived back into the Jeep, but two passengers decided to run further into the woods. They were apparently caught later and dragged across the border.
Dor went back to Kibbutz Be’eri – where it later emerged that more than 100 Israeli civilians had been shot, stabbed and burned in their homes.

At the intersection entering Be’eri, Hamas terrorists on motorcycles passed Dor, causing him to accelerate again, veer off the road and swerve violently to avoid the hail of bullets.
Despite his erratic driving, Hamas managed to riddle the jeep with several bullets. Shrapnel from an explosion tore through the cabin, scorching the back of a passenger’s head, Gilad, and tearing the skin from his skull.
“I was shot in the head!” screamed Gilad. “Hold the wound, squeeze it tight!” Dor responded as he zigzagged his vehicle away from the terrorists.
Suddenly a motorcycle stops right in front of Dor’s jeep.
“The terrorist looked me in the eye and shouted: ‘It’s a Jew – kill the Jew!’
The Hamas fighter reached for his weapon, but Dor rammed the motorcycle with the front of the jeep, sending the driver flying through the air and ending up in a nearby ditch.
When they entered Be’eri, she had nowhere to go. Dor stopped the truck next to a bush, dragged a bleeding Gilad with him, and made his way to a dilapidated public toilet building.
They hid there for six hours as Hamas gunmen came and went, shooting at the doors and windows, before leaving to kill more civilians on the kibbutz.
“Even if our friends from across the border come back, they’ll never be the same,” Dor said before breaking down

“We can’t do anything.” Parts of the ceiling fell on us. We barricaded ourselves inside for six hours.
“You hear the screams, the rockets, the Kalashnikov shots.” Dor continued, his voice shaking.
But just when all hope seemed lost, Dor said he could hear “the language of the IDF”. Military service is compulsory in Israel and most citizens complete two or more years of military training.
Hearing the voices of the IDF soldiers gave Dor and his wounded friend the strength to seek shelter before joining the military unit and evacuating the hellhole.
Sharing his thoughts with MailOnline after his heroic but harrowing ordeal, Dor could only speak of his friends and other Israeli citizens who were kidnapped by the terrorists and brought back to Gaza.
“People will no longer be who they once were.” Even if our friends from across the border return, those abducted will never be the same.”
