Yes, ok, the word “adventure” sounds a lot Ko Lantabut in reality we are talking about an era that those under 20 cannot know, very well.

For the release of the very first episode of his podcast “Waiting to have a child”We asked her some questions about the new life adventure she is starting with her partner: access to motherhood through a Medically Assisted Reproduction (MAP) procedure.
To miss. Former pen of Madmoizelle, can you introduce yourself to those who don’t know you? Who are you, where do you come from?
Sophie Riche. I’m Sophie Riche, I deal with brand communication, but I’ve also been an author, actress, screenwriter and creator of content on the internet for about fifteen years, in writing, videos and podcasts. I wrote articles and videos for Madmoizelle, too (between 2011 and 2017), where I was a bit of an uninhibited troublemaker.
It’s something that I always have at heart, making people laugh and uninhibited, on all topics that touch women’s bodies. Even today, this is what drives me.
Can you tell us about your brand new podcast?
Looking forward to expecting a babyit is an intimate and intimate testimony-story of my journey in PMA, of my struggle, more banal than one might think: that of starting a family with my partner in a country that gives me the right to do so, but not the means .
Why did you create a podcast about this topic? What can it bring more than the existing ones?
I basically wanted to do a podcast about this topic because I felt alone and felt like we didn’t have all the information at the right time. I told myself that if I felt this way, then I wasn’t the only one. So I wrote. I needed. I didn’t know how I was going to use it, but very quickly the podcast seemed obvious to me. I wanted to create the podcast that I would enjoy listening to.
What can bring more is the unresolved side of the testimony: the moment I write my text, the moment I record it, I don’t know more than the listeners if one day I will be pregnant. This is something I missed at the beginning of this journey: the podcasts I listened to were great, but the people who watched them knew whether they were mothers or not. You can feel it. In joy and relief or in strength and resilience. I wanted to feel something in between, so I told myself I would embody that. This state of hope and desperation, impatience, worry. There are also many uncertainties. To feel supported and support women in the same stage of their lives. For my part, work to eliminate the taboo on PMA, on sperm donation, on egg donation.
And I also wanted to make people laugh. I need it a lot on this journey. We cry a lot, but we also laugh, almost as much, with my partner. It’s an important decompression valve, so if I can make those who listen to me smile a little with my witty jokes, then I’ve succeeded in my mission.
Do you think there is a blind spot in PMA for lesbian couples? For what ?
I think there is a blind spot in WAP itself, a real taboo on the subject, as if society refuses to accept the idea that couples have difficulty procreating naturally and easily.
So regarding lesbian couples, following this logic, the discussion is even more confidential, as if we were too “niche” a topic.
Why is it so complicated for lesbian couples to become mothers thanks to assisted reproduction, compared to heterosexual couples?
The big problem is the lack of raw materials: we lack sperm. In France, in 2022, only 760 donors have been identified. This is a few dozen more than before the adoption of the law that opens PMA to female couples and single women: the demand has exploded, but the sperm resource remains constant. This means that on average, for a PMA requiring gametes from a donor, it takes 18 months to 3 years to wait.
What exactly do we find in your podcast, for those who haven’t listened to it yet? Is it an intimate story, external testimonies?
It’s an intimate story, a first-person testimony, with a side wrapped up in the fact that I record alone, from home. I’m considering a season 2 with testimonials, but the first is me and my guts on the mic.

Will you talk about everything in your podcast, without taboos?
YES. Thousands of times. I am “lucky” not to be ashamed of my emotions. If I know that spreading myself can be useful to others, then I do it. So yes. We’ll talk about everything. We will often say “sperm” and talk about the progesterone eggs that dissolve in our underwear.
Can this podcast serve as a pillar for everyone embarking on this journey?
I hope ! It’s what I want. Obviously I do not replace doctors and healthcare workers. They are the foundations, the load-bearing walls. If this podcast could be a pillar to lean on, a big sister to laugh and confide in, I would be so happy.
What can we wish you for the future?
Being able to start a family with my amazing girlfriend. Really, at this point in my life, that’s all anyone could want from me.
Looking forward to expecting a baby and its first episode are available on all podcast listening platforms.
