A Brit has been accused of raping his son’s girlfriend in a Magaluf hotel and could face up to nine years in prison if convicted.
The 43-year-old’s lawyers did not reach an agreement with the public prosecutor’s office in a Mallorcan court on Thursday.
The trial in the island’s capital Palma ended with a trial date set for February next year over the alleged sexual assault in May.
The suspect, who has not been named by police or court officials ahead of his trial, was arrested at Palma airport after “packing his bags and then trying to return to the UK for hours”.
The British woman, believed to be in her 20s, told investigators she was forced to have sex after spending the last night of her holiday in the same room as her boyfriend and his father because she was due to travel to the UK hours later and . .. already checked out of her own room.

The older man allegedly surprised her in the middle of the night after she “took advantage” of her drinking a large amount of alcohol and sleeping soundly on a sofa bed, although she then woke up and begged him to stop holding her. .
The father’s son was apparently still celebrating at the time.
Police were alerted after they escaped from the unnamed hotel in the early hours of May 9 this year and raised the alarm at a Civil Guard office near the Punta Ballena party strip in Magaluf.
Mallorcan daily Ultima Hora said officers took a statement from her before going to the hotel and found the man they were looking for had already checked out.
He was arrested at the gate of his flight after allegedly ending his vacation early by delaying his return trip days before his originally scheduled departure by buying a new plane ticket home.
An investigating judge ordered his detention after he was taken to court for questioning during a closed hearing in which the alleged victim gave his version of events.
He has reportedly been in jail since his arrest in May.
As well as a nine-year prison sentence if convicted, prosecutors also want the accused rapist to appear in court today to pay his alleged victim £8,700 in compensation if he is found guilty of the sex offence.
The party towns of Magaluf and S’Arenal, east of the island’s capital, have been rocked this summer by several alleged sexual assaults against foreign tourists, including gang rapes.
