HBO Max finally arrives in France, with ALL HBO series (and a new name)

We have been waiting for this for a long time. After several postponements, the Max streaming platform (formerly called HBO Max) arrives in Europe, with a launch expected in France in 2024. This is what Warner Bros executives announced this Monday 16 October at Mipcom in Cannes.

HBO Max: available in France in summer 2024?

So far, fans of game of Thrones, House of the DragonFrom The last of us or also Succession they had to pay around ten euros in addition to the Prime Video subscription to access the Warner pass. For the moment we do not know how long it will remain available for French subscribers.

Max, in fact, will make a gradual arrival throughout the world: first in the spring of 2024 in the 22 countries already served by HBO Max (Scandinavia, the Netherlands, the Iberian Peninsula, Eastern Europe, etc.), then in Latin America. The platform will appear in France and Belgium “later in the year” without a specific date being mentioned by the directors of Warner Bros. The magazine Variety is anticipating, for its part, a launch in the summer of 2024 in France, information not commented on by Warner Bros. Discovery, requested by AFP.

Like Netflix and Prime Video: original French productions?

Following the model of the streaming giants already reigning in France, Warner Bros announced the filming of his first French production intended exclusively for Maxentitled “La mythomane du Bataclan”, a miniseries inspired by a true story, starring Laure Calamy.

As in the United States, where Max was launched in May, in Europe the new platform will broadcast live programs, including sporting events across the Eurosport portfolio (Grand Slam tennis, cycling, etc.).

There is no doubt that the series Harry Potter will be counted among Max’s most convincing arguments in his race for subscribers.
