5 ideas for not too boring activities to do during a child’s birthday

If the idea of organizing a birthday worthy of the name for your child terrifies you, here are some ideas for activities that will occupy the time, keeping your heir and his little friends entertained.

You don’t have BAFA and on top of that you have difficulty supporting other people’s children? How I understood you. Except that when it comes time to plan your youngest child’s birthday, you still want to do things right. This is obviously not an obligation, but, depending on the age you are celebrating, organizing activities for sugar-loaded kids can be fun, and helps engrave memories in their minds that they will later look back on with nostalgia. You never know, maybe thanks to this, your little Jean-Eudes will think twice before putting you in an EHPAD in a few years. Do not thank me !

Organizing activities during a birthday, good or bad idea?

Do we need to organize things or can we let the kids go about their business (which just means they will mess up your child’s room while they play)? It’s actually how you feel. Depending on the atmosphere, the number of guests and the personality of your child and his friends, the feeling depends. My advice: give advance notice of the big day, while still having a plan B just in case. You can assume that they will all play together without drama, that the 2 or 3 hours of the birthday party will pass very quickly, and that you will even have time to scroll through Instagram, while they play Playmobil in Jean-Eudes’ room. Hope gives life, everything is possible.

But just in case, if you ever feel like the atmosphere isn’t the best and the little ones need to distract themselves, here are some ideas for activities that you can plan that don’t require a lot of organization.

A treasure hunt

There’s nothing complicated about organizing a treasure hunt, I’ll explain everything to you. Start by hiding little surprises in unlikely places, like candy in the cookware cupboard, plastic beads in flower pots, and get ready for the hunt. To do this, everything depends on the age of the children: if they know how to read, write the clues on small pieces of paper and put them in a hat: each child will have to take one in turn, read the clue and go in search of the loot with the his friends. If they can’t read yet, do the same thing, but read to them what is written. And hop, that’s enough to keep them busy for at least half an hour!

A karaoke session

Remember that pink sequined microphone you probably bought during your first birth because you didn’t know what the hell to do with your evenings? It’s time to get it out. Turn on a Disney playlist on your TV, view the lyrics and hey, it’s time to sing. Maybe be careful to warn your neighbors first, so that they don’t call the police when they hear children screaming like crushed cats.

A fishing with the hook

To carry out this activity you will need sheets of newspaper, a large basin or salad bowl, some slightly long sticks, some string and small hooks. Start by wrapping small surprises individually in newspaper (such as candy bags, small jewelry, inflatable balls) and put everything in a salad bowl. Each wrapped surprise must be surrounded by a string and then fished out. On each stick (which will be the same number as the number of guests), hang another piece of string, and a hook at the end. And here it is! Children will simply have to stand around the tank full of surprises and then try to fish them out.

Paper airplane contest (to decorate)

Nothing could be simpler as an activity: providing the children with a pile of leaves and a box of markers. Each child folds a paper airplane and has to decorate it. Then you can have a race to see which plane flies the furthest. The winner will receive a little surprise.

Outdoor games

If you have an outdoor venue or are hosting the party in a park, you can be a referee or organize a fun game like hawk or cap. There is nothing better than letting children run around after eating too much candy, at least they will sleep well in the evening. Take a quick look online first, just to refresh your memory of the rules of the games, and so you don’t look like someone who doesn’t even know to shout “salaaaaade” during the hawk.

I hope these ideas can help you better understand your future heir’s birthday party, and if it ever seems too complicated, know that even watching a movie with popcorn can be a lot of fun. Breathe with your belly and remember that it doesn’t last forever, it’s just a matter of a few hours.
