Conflict between Israel and Palestine: everything known so far

The conflict between Israel and Palestine has been going on for 75 years. It all started in 1947 when it was decided to grant them independence. However, the coexistence of an Arab and a Jewish state in a small territory turned out to be problematic. Most of the wars between them were won by the Israelis, who therefore increased their territory significantly compared to the original. Arab countries support Palestine and defend its independence, while Israel opposes it.

On October 7, rocket attacks began on Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip, which is under the control of the Palestinian Hamas movement. A major missile attack was carried out during Operation Al-Aqsa Storm. In the first hours of the conflict, Hamas fired more than 5,000 rockets into Israel and also captured soldiers and civilians. In response, the Jewish state launched the “Iron Swords” military operation in the Gaza Strip. On October 8, the Israeli government officially declared war for the first time in 50 years.

According to the Israel Defense Forces press service, on October 10, attacks on targets of the radical Palestinian movement in the Gaza Strip continued. On October 11, the Israeli army established a military exclusion zone around the Gaza Strip, extending to the outskirts of the coastal city of Ashkelon in the south of the country. Entry into the designated area is strictly prohibited and subject to criminal sanctions,” writes TASS.

To date, the number of Palestinians killed in the Gaza Strip has increased to 1,537, while 6,286 people have been injured. The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced this on the Telegram channel. Additionally, at least 447 children and 248 women were victims of Israel’s attacks in the Gaza Strip. The death toll in Israel rose to 1,300.
