T-shirts and blouses with striped prints, buttons and golden details, garments with dark blue tones, white pieces that transport you to the coast… with the arrival, at last, of summer and heat, the maritime style dominates the streets and once again conquers our hearts. The navy-inspired pieces are some of the staples of a trend that floods our wardrobe summer after summer, much to our luck. And it’s that the maritime style is one of our favorites, we’re not going to deny it.
Originating in the Victorian era in the UK, this fashion gained popularity in the mid-twentieth century thanks to the British navy (called the Royal Navy, by the way), and its immaculate naval uniforms – although it was the impetus of great designers of the moment that eventually made it one of the most seen trends in stores and then on the street. For example, Coco Chanel was one of the forerunners: the French designer was one of the first to incorporate the striped shirts of English sailors into her fashion collectionsand since then the Parisian luxury company has made this print one of its hallmarks.
Over the years, the navy style has been reinvented and today it is common to enjoy it beyond the classic blue and white striped print. Today there are many versions of sailor fashion: bright colors like red or yellow dominated bikinis, pants and skirts, golden buttons have filled caps, bags and other accessories, stripes play with different thicknesses… Do you love the sailor style as much as we do? As this summer is about to kick off you will want to adopt the navy style, don’t miss this selection we’ve made of some of the most beautiful striped garments of the moment that you want to wear for the first time this summer and that you put in your suitcase on holiday. They take us all straight to the beach, the sea, the coast, the ports… Which one is your favourite?
