France will welcome five Afghan women threatened by the Taliban

Several women who failed to flee Afghanistan when the Taliban took over will reach Paris on Monday.

This is an operation that has been requested for some time by many associations. Threatened with death by the Taliban regime, five Afghan women – one of them accompanied by three children – will be welcomed in France this Monday 4 September.

They could not benefit from the airlift in 2021

These women are former directors of the University of Sciences, NGO consultants, TV presenters or teachers, reports theFrench media agency. These women were unable to benefit from the airlift established after the Taliban regime took over in the summer of 2021 and were forced to flee to Pakistan.

Once they arrive in France, they will first be received at a “transit” center in the Paris region and registered as asylum seekers. They will then be hosted in other lodgings for a longer period.

Since its return to power, the Taliban regime has gradually curtailed the rights of Afghan women, increasingly removing them from the public arena. Because since August 2021 women no longer have access to education, public administration or even beauty salons. Also, Afghanistan is one of the few countries where the suicide rate is higher among women than among men.
