These Michael Jordan Sneakers, Which Already Sold For $1.47 Million, Are Going To Auction For $100,000
Indeed, prior to the launch of the famous Air Jordan in 1985, Michael Jordan protected Nike Air Ships, most notably during the fifth game of the 1984-1985 NBA season, the 1um November 1984, before handing them signed to local ball boy TJ Lewis, as the latter likes to tell on auction site Goldin:

After the game was over and the Bulls exited the team meeting, I was able to walk into the locker room to start cleaning up and wrap up the night. I looked over and saw Michael Jordan sitting in front of his locker and he was still in his gym gear. I moved a little closer so he could see me in hopes he would change his mind and give me his shoes. To my surprise, suddenly he notices me, he looks down and grabs the shoes he was wearing that night during the game, he looks at me again and asks me if I wanted them. Naturally I said yes, found a pen and had him sign both shoes. He signed one of the shoes with just his name and the other shoe signed “My Very Best To Tj”. Michael Jordan’. »
Ball boy TJ Lewis sold them years later, in October 2022 at Sotheby’s, whose auction fetched a whopping 1.47 million dollars (1,351,000 euros). This was the highest amount ever paid for second-hand shoes at the time. Now this pair of collectible sneakers has been auctioned again starting at 100,000 dollars (about 93,000 euros) from August 8, 2023 by the Goldin website.
Although the auctions end on September 9, they are already approaching $200,000. What could make you want to hang around the locker room asking top athletes to sign their sneakers for you?
