Last season of Stranger things it was truly epic! It was by far the darkest season of the show, and that’s saying a lot for a series about supernatural beings who kidnap people. He moved the story forward, giving us more insight into Eleven’s past and her connection to the Upside Down. We were introduced to a couple of new characters in Season 4, and none of them were more beloved than mullet sportsman, pot salesman, and guitar shredder D&D Dungeon Master Eddie Munson, played by the charming Joseph Quinn.
And as it turns out, Quinn was so in character that he was allowed a little improvisation on the show, and some of Eddie’s best lines came as a result of that. In a July 2, 2022 Twitter/X post by the authors of Stranger thingsfans learned that Eddie’s last words in his heartbreaking final scene in the season 4 finale were actually ad-libbed by Quinn. As he lay dying in Dustin’s arms, he told the boy that he had become his best friend: “I love you, man.” It was such a heartbreaking moment!
In the same post, someone asked him if he had also improvised the comedy scene on the bus with Robin and Steve, in which Robin runs up to Eddie in the driver’s seat and says, “Eddie, I’m not sure I like the idea of you “. driving,” and Eddie said, “Oh, I’m starting this idiot,” then he looked at Steve and said lovingly, “Harrington took her, isn’t he a big boy?” It’s a classic scene and it’s just another reason to love both Eddie Munson than Joseph Quinn!
I hope there is something in the rumors that Eddie has a chance to return next season. I’d love to see him in the role again. But if season 4 is his ultimate destiny, he made his mark and came out a hero. Can’t wait to see what the actor does next.
