Anatomy of a fall, Justine Triet’s masterpiece blows everything (even Parasite) at the box office

Anatomy of a Fall is the fifth best opening for a film that has received the Palme d’Or since 2004. A more than deserved success.

We talked about it a lot barbenheimer, but this summer audiences didn’t move to the cinema just for the Margot Robbie/Ryan Gosling duo or a bomb shot without special effects. Since its first day of release (and even earlier, if we count the previews), the Palme d’Or at the latest Cannes Film Festival drew crowds, marking a historic beginning for a French auteur film.

A better start than Parasite

Upon its theatrical release this Wednesday, August 23, Anatomy of a fall got the score of 55,382 admissions, including 8,375 previews. To get an idea, is more than Parasite by Bong Joon Ho. When it came out in 2019, it won the Palme d’Or 54,941 enrollments the day of its release. But the success of Parasite it took place over the long term: not leaving the cinematic schedule over the months, the film ended up grossing overall 1.927 million at the end of its operation.
