The 75th Cannes Film Festival will currently run until 28 May on the Cote d’Azur. The only Russian film that entered the main competition was shown at Cannes yesterday. Kirill Serebrennikov presented his work “Tchaikovsky’s Wife”. The audience met with the director along with the main actors: Odin Byron, Alena Mikhailova and Vladimir Mishukov. They were also joined by blogger Natalie Osmann and actress Svetlana Ustinova.

Before the show, Kirill Serebrennikov gave a short interview to Variety, where he spoke about his opposition to the abolition and boycott of Russian culture.
Russian culture is about the fragility of life. It’s about oppressed people fighting for rights and justice. Real culture. I think it is not good to boycott such a culture. I will continue to love my culture. Loving Tchaikovsky, Dostoevsky, Chekhov, Bulgakov, Tarkovsky and other brilliant artists who made me who I am. I do not want to betray them, ”the director admitted.

Serebrennikov’s painting “Tchaikovsky’s Wife” tells about the difficult fate of the wife of the great composer, who had to endure the unconventional orientation of her husband.
