I had an ex who did all the chores but constantly checked his phone in my presence, an ex who gave lots of compliments but never gifts, and an ex who hugged me tightly but never said “I love you.”
Everyone was crazy about me, of course, but not everyone has the same way of showing their feelings…
5 love languages for 5 ways to love
Marriage counselor and speaker Gary Chapman is the bestselling author The languages of lovewhich describes the different ways in which human beings show that they love each other.
According to him there are 5 of them:
- physical touch
- Words of appreciation
- Services rendered
- Quality moments
- Gifts
Most often, a person has a dominant love language, which may depend on what he received or, conversely, on what he lacked in childhood.
It also happens that someone practices and appreciates all languages equally. This is the case of a friend of mine, an extremely balanced and gifted guy for life as a couple. We applaud him.
