Dr. Oz’s Bid to Run for Republican in PA Senate Race Too Close to Call, Recount Starts

Despite the support of former President and TV aide Donald Trump, up-and-coming US Senate doctor Dr. Mehmet Oz did not nominate Republicans for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Member of Parliament, Senator Pat Tum.

Ozzie and former hedge fund manager Dave McCormick, the two leaders who remained close in the race, took 31.2% of the vote and Ozzie 31.1% as of 9 p.m. PT. According to the Washington Post. Under Pennsylvania law, any vote margin below 0.5% will automatically trigger a recount.

After the polls closed, the race was tense and intensified after all the results were announced, except for a few. Of the 1.1 million Republican votes cast in the primary, Oz and McCormick are just behind with 1,477 votes, according to Fox News.

That’s a good return on investment, given that Oz and McCormick have lent $12 million and $11 million to their campaigns, respectively.

Oz is a longtime New Jersey resident, but he signed up with his wife to vote absentee in the Philadelphia suburb last year and is now eligible to run for the state this year, according to the Associated Press.

It lit up at the rainy rally he held for potential fans on May 7. He apparently didn’t change his mind about Pennsylvania when he refused to cheat in the 2020 election last week. Supporting this false narrative was a litmus test for many Trump supporters.

On Tuesday night, Oz took the stage at campaign headquarters to admit that it probably wouldn’t work tonight, but he’s confident of victory. “I’m proud of you,” he told Trump.

He said he thanked Fox News’ Sean Hannit for his late-night speeches and advice.

“Shawn is like a brother to me,” the TV doctor told the crowd. “When Shawn hits it hits walls.”
