Sexual Assault: Summer Camps and Outdoor Centers Finally Commit, After #MeTooAnimation

On Thursday 6 July, the Secretary of State for Youth announced that a new component aimed at preventing sexist and sexual violence would be added to the Bafa training course for future camp and recreation center leaders.

Who says summer says camps and recreation centers. Every year, just over a million children stay there during the holidays. And to supervise them, 50,000 organizers pass the certificate of aptitude for the functions of organizer every year. A new module will soon be added to the training: the fight against gender-based and sexual violence. The idea? Prevent this violence during the stay, better collect the child’s words and identify the victims in case of sexual violence suffered at home.

This new component was announced on Thursday 6 July by the Secretary of State for Youth.

In addition to this training, the heads of collective reception facilities for minors (such as holiday or recreational centres, outdoor centres, etc.) will have to sign a charter of 12 commitments to prevent sexual and sexist violence. Among the commitments there is the obligation to“include the prevention and fight against sexual and gender-based violence in the educational project”From “recruit personnel trained on these issues”designate “referents” VSS in each reception facility.

They will also have to “Educate the Children” on gender-based and sexual violence e “gender equality issues” and commit to “relationship” vs “to the competent authorities”.

A double awareness campaign launched on the networks

The government also announced the implementation of an awareness campaign on gender-based violence, broadcast from 10 July to 6 August on social networks. The target ?
