29 years ago, the lead role he played in Forrest Gump brought Tom Hanks an Oscar and gave a great impetus to his acting career. So what will be the fate of Michael Humphrey, who played Forrest during his school years? Spoiler alert: he followed in his character’s footsteps.

Michael did not continue to act in films, as he believed that Hollywood was not made for children. But Forrest’s role inspired him to run marathons and build a military career. He also had to serve in the same unit in Germany, where Elvis Presley once earned his military rank.

“When I joined the army, I did everything possible not to learn anything about me or the movie. I think it took about two weeks for someone to understand,” Michael admitted.
Already in adulthood, the actor took part in the second film of his career – “Pioneers: In the Company of Strangers”. The military thriller did not receive recognition neither from critics nor from viewers. Its imdb rating is 3.4.
Today, Michael Humphrey leads a quiet life and continues to serve in the military. When asked if he would like to act in films again, he says he would be happy to return as 007.
